I still have my hand rendered word that i could use and after looking around i have decided that i am more likely to find “hurry” somewhere than fork so i started thinking about making a font. after a while i decided i wasn’t really into so i made my word out of my obsession, shoes.

Mona Vale

After having decided I would use fool from the cover of a book I was walking through Mona Vale when I found an old toy store with the word Fool on it. I decided to use the street sign instead because i was still have trouble finding the word “hurry” and “fork” and may need to use the published word for them.

While wondering around I also found another 2 more “A’s” one in a window store and also i grabbed one from a number plate because you can never have too many a’s

After Looking everywhere for the word Fool I decided that i might have to use it as a publication i.e. a book cover. I have a group of book’s at home called the Fool’s Errand, the Fools Fate and the Golden Fool. When I found these i decided that fool could be my published word.

On the 24/09/09 when getting lunch down in the food court i realised that there had been a “Drinks” right in front of me the whole time. The word is made of engraved wood which has the been painted in.

After not having thought about this assessment in a few days i was strolling through Manly corso when i came across a memorial sign in front of the beach after scanning through it i found that it had “In”. This “In” is made from embossed metal.

Balmain

On 04/09/09 we went to Balmain for another group assessment. As we were driving past Victoria rd we noticed a giant laser cut sign on the side of the road. We stood on the side of the road reading looking a little special scanning for our words. Once we had finished reading I found “With” and “A”.

Map

I started working on my map by using the street map and making separate maps for each area that i had visited and gotten words from. After a while though I decided that this was too boring and wanted to do something a bit more interesting and make it into a pirate’s treasure map. It turned out to be more time consuming than i originally thought but i had fun doing it and I’m happy with the finished result.

On the 26th of August while looking for Lunch in North Sydney we decided to go look around for our words.

whilst wondering around we realised just how much harder this was going to be than we originally thought

after a slow start we finally started to find a few of our words through the shops and greenwood plaza.

Assessment Brief

We got our second assessment for systems of communication “urban quotation”.

Our words were picked out of a hat with other proverbs and sayings.

We are to find and photograph our assigned words and comp them together using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Handskills to make an A3 poster and write a report on the creative process. The report needs to have maps and pictures.

The words need to be found in the urban environment however they need to all be of different mediums i.e. hand drawn calligraphy, neon, stone carving, sign writing, tattoos, embroidery, skywriting and one has to be a hand rendered original design in black in.
